Why are people left handed?

 

Typically, one side of the brain is superior to the other. Since the opposite side (i.e., the left controls the right side of the body) is controlled by each hemisphere of the brain, right-handed people have stronger left brain hemispheres. 

You will sometimes find an ambidextrous person. Those individuals who have co-dominant hemispheres can equally use both the right and left hands.
